|
 One
of the brightest spots of Tehri Garhwal, 1676 m, Chamba
is just 60 km from Mussoorie. This quaint town offers
one of the most sepectacular views of snow capped
Himalayas and the enchanting Bhagirathi valley. Being
the centre point of routes to Mussoorie, Rishikesh,
Tehri and New Tehri, Chamba is fast changing into
the ideal interlude. |

| Dhanaulti |

 Dhanaulti,
located amidst thick, virgin forest of deodar, rhododendron
(burans) and oak, has an atmosphere of the long wooded
slopes, relaxed outdoors, cool caressing breeze, warm
and hospitable inhabitants, lovely weather and fabulous
view of snow covered mountains makes it an ideal retreat
for a relaxed holiday. Situated on the Mussoorie -
Chamba route, Dhanaulti is 24 km from Chamba. For
accommodation, Tourist Rest House, Forest Rest House,
Hotel Drive-in Dhanolti and a couple of guest houses
are available. |

| Nagtibba |
|
| For
those who are interested in trekkiing and adventure,
Nagtibba, at an altitude of 3048 m offers one of the
most captivating views of the majestic Himalayas as
well as Mussoorie, Doon Valley and surrounding areas.
The area is full of dense forests and natural beauty.
Nagtibba is the most unspoilt wonder round the year.
To reach Nagtibba, one has to come to Pantwari via
Nainbagh from Mussoorie or Vikas Nagar by direct bus
service. Pantwari is the base camp for visiting the
place, from there, it is 8 km trek to Nagtibba, through
dense forests. There is no accomodation at Nagtibba
so one has to carry tents or come back, to the picturesque
village of Pantwari, gay with life and presenting
the culture of Jaunpur.
The second route is via Thatyur, which is connected
by road to Mussoorie and Chamba, and is 66 km from
Thatyur to Nagtibba is a 21 km trek via Devalsari.
Devalsari is the last place where a Forest Rest House
is available for accommodation on this route. |

| Kempty
Fall |

km from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri road having an
altitude of 1215 m. It has the distinction of being
the biggest and prettiest water fall located in a
beautiful valley and is surrounded by high mountains.
A bath at the foot of the fall is refreshing and enjoyable
for children and adults alike. |

| Kaudiyala |

| It
is 37 km from Rishikesh on the Rishikesh-Badrinath
highway at an altitude of 389 m. Here, the mighty
water of Ganga is ideal for white water rafting. GMVN
conducts river rafting courses at Kaudiyala. They
provide rafts, river side camping items and trained
guides who make the sport a pleasure. Safety precautions
are also stressed on. There is ample opportunity to
view wildlife in its natural habitat. |

Tehri |

 This
newly established township is the district headquarter
of Tehri Garhwal. It is situated at an elevation between
1550 to 1950 m above sea level. A mordern and well
planned town, only 11 km from Chamba and 24 km from
Old Tehri, it overlooks a massive artificial lake
and a dam. It will soon become an important centre
of attraction on the completion of the dam.

Nagar |

km away from Muni-ki-Reti at an altitude of 1,129
m lies this capital of the former King of Garhwal.
Until a few years ago it was the headquarter of the
district Tehri Garhwal, but now New Tehri town is
the headquarter. Here, the palace of the Tehri Raja,
is situated amidst the forest.
Situated on the main Rishikesh-Gangotri-Yamunotri
route Narendra Nagar offers a fine view of the Ganga
